Logan Square Neighborhood Cleanup
Join BSTA for a neighborhood cleanup in Logan Square! Meet us on Sunday, August 30th at 11am - at the intersection of W Belden Ave & N Spaulding Ave. We’ll be tidying up the surrounding streets and disposing of litter for about an hour before reconvening.
BSTA is excited to continue building a community of tenants, and contribute to the neighborhoods they call home.
We’ll be providing trash bags, gloves, and limited trash pickers (for the first 12 attendees). Please dress accordingly for the weather and bring water! Hydrate or diedrate as they say.
Whether you are a member of BSTA already, interested joining, want to learn more about the tenant movement, or eager to contribute toward the betterment of the neighborhood and environment, all are welcome!
Northside phone Banking for Protecting Renter’s Ordinance
One Northside and Metropolitan Tenants Organization, in collaboration with BSTA, present a Phone Banking event to support the Protecting Renter’s Ordinance!
Help spread awareness by contacting your fellow tenants on the Northside, and get them onboard for the most important expansion to tenant rights in decades.
🌹Protect Renters Ordinance Rally & Canvass (Hosted by DSA Chicago)
BSTA will be joining DSA Chicago, and tenant comrades in a rally in support of the Protect Renters Ordinance.
Join us on August 16th, at 11am at Hollywood Beach, as we rally for the most important pro-tenant legislation in 40 yars.
We will be launching into a door knocking canvass directly after the rally.
Boulevard Yard Sale: Sponsored by BSTA
Join BSTA on Sunday, July 12th for a Yard Sale on Logan Boulevard. A portion of proceeds will be going toward moving assistance for BSTA members currently undergoing eviction.
Peruse a variety of wares from chic clothing, furniture, cute chotchkies, and much more! We’ll be posted up at the intersection of N Albany Ave and Kedzie.
Mystical Jungle: Wet Hot World
BSTA will be tabling at Wet Hot World, a collaborative art fundraiser between Nubes Collective and Pynk Portal Pole Sanctuary. Join us for a magical evening featuring GoGo Dancers, DJ’s, analog projections, art installations, and much more!
A portion of proceeds will be going toward immigrant families impacted by raids

"On the Edge of Eviction" Report Launch
Join BSTA in marking the publication of our research report, "On the Edge of Eviction: Operation Midway Blitz Pushes Chicago Tenants to the Brink."
Created in collaboration with California based organization The Rent Brigade and Palenque LSNA, this report documents the untenable conditions and detrimental impact of “Operation Midway Blitz” on Chicagoans.
Discuss the report amongst your neighbors, BSTA and memebers of the tenant movement.
Limited physical copies of the report will also be available.
Rally to Resist Rising Rents
Join the Three Black Cats Tenant Association, a building committee of BSTA, as we rally against Chicago’s surging rent, and the invasive takeover of Logan Square housing.
Longtime residents of Three Black Cats’s Logan Square building are facing displacement due to the prospective sale of their building. Paired with a steep increase in rent, these tenants would be priced out of the homes they’ve lived in for years, even if they were given the opportunity to stay.
This situation has become far too common across all of Chicago, and is a primary contributor to the housing crisis plaguing the city. Enough is enough. Our city deserves better.

Inspired by the Rent Parties of the Harlem Renaissance, organized by the community to help tenants struggling to pay rent. Landlords discriminated against Black Tenants, fixing their rents at a significantly higher rate compared to white tenants. Combined with discriminatory wages, many in the community struggled to afford their basic housing. These parties charged an admission to help the hosts cover the difference for the unjust rent inflation.
