Support the Protecting Renters Ordinance

Urge Your Alder to Support HERE

City Council is set to debate the biggest initiative in tenant rights in years. The P.R.O. would greatly expand tenant protections against the abuses of the landlord industry, and level the playing field for over 600,000 renters.

On July 16, 2026, corporate, landlord-loving aldermen of the “Budget Accountability Coalition” introduced a counter-ordinance called the “F.A.I.R Ordinance.” Contrary to its name, the ordinance is quite unfair to tenants, and actually scales back existing rights we’ve had for 40 years.

Eviction Moratorium Now!

Email City Council HERE and demand an eviction moratorium to protect our neighbors in need.

In the Summer of 2025, ICE agents invaded Chicagoland and unleashed a wave of terror against our communities. Over 3,700 of our neighbors, including children, were detained over the following weeks.

These raids have not only caused irreparable damage to communities and families, but have triggered an acute economic and housing crisis, driving vulnerable immigrant tenants to self-deport for fear of detention.

Tenants should not be punished by the prospect of eviction because of the cruelty and brutality of the Trump Administration.

We need an eviction moratorium now. Click here to read our full report.
